rapid color change

try specifying the cue number in your macro as well.

ex: GM 3/1 (Sends a Go on Master 3 Cue 1)

I'm confused at why you would need the GM macro...unless you are triggering it from a different list.

If you just want to his play and have it step through the 10 cues rather quickly, just use wait times. The VL's will definitely handle the fast time.

Maybe I'm just mistaken on what you're trying to do....

By the way, do the VL2000's use color slots, or CMY mixing? Im wondering as I have some other lights that use CMY that I would like to use this effect on. . . .

VL2000 Spots are slots only. VL2000 Wash are slots+CMY.

VL2500 Spots and Washes are both slots+CMY.

However, the VL's have one of the fastest Color bumps that I have encountered. I haven't found a manufacturer that can touch their speed. The Congo/White and Red/White bumps are a sight to see at a fast rate. You can also go from Congo to Red and get the white "strobe" flash in there.

Yep....VLs have always had the fastest color and gobo wheels. The old Trackspots and Intellabeams came close....and could do that white "strobe" by flashing from Red to Blue and passing through White to ge there as well.

For fast color changes, I still love Studio Color 575 in 2X mode! Talk about fast with CMY...

Yes....I agree Brad. We just got our white ones and I've been playing with them. Very nice and very fast for CMY.

Why aren't you using an effect instead of a cue? Just a different thought.

You could one shot the effect, or if you need it to stop in a specific place you could cue it stopped. If you are using cmy units you can apply a sawtooth to Hue, and then by changing the saturation level you can achieve a color change, it all depends on what colors you want to have in your effect. You should also be able to achieve limited colors by using size and offset. But certainly playing with the effect can be quicker and cleaner than writing cues. Typically in live run situations, I'll make a IPCB fader that just has Saturation in it, so you can go from white to color with a fader, and then place your hue info in whatever cues or effects you're running.

You can edit how many times a effect rolls through its programming using the Nshot in the effect table. Even if it's not a CMY unit, if you apply sawtooth to your color slot, you should be able to achieve a color roll, and you edit the time live, which is nice. Though you can do the same with a cue chase. I suppose really it's just about getting what you need out of the thing. And what you are more comfortable using. More reasons to love the Pig.

It is a mode where the CMY wheels take the shortest path to the next value rather than have to spin around again....makes for some AWESOMELY fast CMY color changes....faster than Studio Command even!:headbang:

You can turn this mode on from H3 by selecting the Mode slots from the toolbar near the bottom of the right screen (directly next to Control).

Brian is correct...use the NShots column in the effects engine to specify how many times the effect will run....you can also edit this on a fixture by fixture basis by using the NShots in the Programmer or any other Editor.
