iRFR channel check mode??? for iPhone app

The RFR will now boot into channel check mode - this was changed in 1.9.5.  To get to live mode, hold down the upper left button and select "live" on the appropriate softkey.

I for one, wish it would boot into LIVE mode instead of channel check mode.  There doesn't seem to be a sneak or out option when in channel check mode, so I keep mistakingly bring up a channel manually and have to switch to LIVE mode to take it out.

Todd, yes clear works when in actual channel check mode, but if you actually type in "1atFULL ENTER" it captures that channel at full.  The only way to take it out is either to set it at 0 or switch to LIVE mode and sneak or out it.

JP- on my RFR if I type "1 @ FULL ENTER" in channel check mode the RFR command line reads:

• 1 @ FULL CHECK *

If I press CLEAR, the command line is cleared and the channel goes out.

I would give ETC a call- perhaps its a RFR firmware or configuration issue.

I totally agree!  The majority of the time I am using my iRFR it is in LIVE mode.  I would much rather switch it manually to Channel Check when needed.  Thoughts??

That's what I use it for almost 100% of the time. Perhaps add a setting to choose which mode you'd prefer to boot in?

I, for the record, like the fact that it boots up in channel check mode. Most times when I'm using the iRFR software, I'm either patching or checking a rig. (And I believe this is ETC's intention for the remote)

However, RFR stands for Radio Focus Remote. . .   so focusing would seem to be the intent.

I too would prefer the iphone remote to boot up in live as I find I have to keep switching modes whenever contact is lost with the desk.

If we're all putting in our opinions for what mode we like to boot in, I prefer the new channel check mode.

Maybe it could be a user setting?

My apologies about my previous statement about 1@FULL ENTER.  Yes, that puts it into channel check, but if you type 1 FULL FULL(which is much quicker) it does not add the CHAN CHECK at the end of the command, so then that channel is captured(sorry, old expression term) and the only way to un-capture it is to switch to LIVE MODE and OUT or SNEAK it.  I would like an option on the chan check page for a softkey for OUT or SNEAK.  Or of course, just default to LIVE MODE (I like the idea of a preference for this default).

So, I was using my iRFR for the majority of the day today, and I continued to get more and more frustrated with the automatic booting to 'Channel Check' mode.  The big problem I had, was that if my iPod Touch sat for more than a few minutes the network connection would time out.... not a iPod Touch issue, because I still had signal to my WAP.  I would then have to return to the connection page, and re-connect with my console..... then, take the time to put it back in 'Live' mode before I could use it again.  Is there any way to add the option to boot to the last used mode??  I would absolutely LOVE that!!

Has anyone else had the connection issue I am having?

Having now loaded 1.9.6 and looked at the RFR  ** NOT THE iRFR **:

Initial boot up was in channel check mode.  Every subsequent boot up was in the mode when powered down (Live, Park, Playback).

I can see the advantage of focusing in Channel ck mode (in my house, house rig, lamps are channeled consequtively): just NEXT through each position (FOH Cove, Catwalk . . .) Your mileage may vary.

I LOVE that I can access addresses without going into patch. THANK YOU!

When you let your iPhone/iPod/iPad idle for too long, it'll put a hold on the Wifi connection in order to save battery. And yes, when I re-connect to the console it boots up in Channel Check mode. So I have to constantly put it back to Live mode throughout the day. Each time I do it it gets a little more frustrating... So I totally feel your pain. I hope some compromise can be worked out. Booting up in 'last used' mode would work great for me too.

You can go into the iRFR settings and turn on Sleep Disable- Disable device's auto matic sleep after idle timeout.  However- it will drain your phone's battery fairly quickly.  When I have run a show with my iRFR I have it set to not let the phone sleep.
