OK Anne, I'll volunteer first...

This is my first attempt at a Magic Sheet.  It's not very pretty, but should be enough to stimulate some ideas.  I started using the fixture symbols but found it easier to use a tombstones for desk channels and generic shapes for scrollers and moving lights.  The symbols are organized by system and represent a rough geography of the plot.  The outlines are roughly colored to the gel colors, which I found much more effective than coloring the background fill of the symbols.  The wider moving light symbols allow for more of the palette labels to be displayed.  I added a few macros in the upper right to allow quick touch screen control for bringing fixture levels up and down.

The quick view fits in the half screen above the CIA and provides a simplified view of the state of the lighting systems. The plan view fills the second monitor and offers more detail.

... and finally a purpose-built one for a dance number with illuminated costumes. The 3 views are of the primary formations along with a picture of the real thing in action.

This magic sheet was a 1:1 replacement for my paper magic sheet, so does not add any control surface features.

I started with an image of the MS that I created (as usual) in Vectorworks.  I made a simple custom object similar to the very top of the tombstone to give me selection indication and that would allow the level to display underneath.

I was able to completely shift from paper to the screen -- my paper version stayed tucked away and, to my surprise, I never found the need to switch to a traditional tombstone layout.  Definitely sped up the design process.

Here are some grabs from First Date The Musical at the Longacre Theater.  The LD is Mike Baldassari.  I'm using MS primarily for programming.  These were designed for use on a 19" external touchscreen.

This is my main programming MS.  I originally had 2 sheets - one color, one beam - and switching became a pain.  I also have an MS of the focus grid, which makes it easier to lay out air effects with the Sharpys.

This is a view of all the LED set electrics.  Being able to have them display color and intensity was very helpful.  We pixel mapped some of these elements so we could layer effects.

This is the "Flying Shelf", an upstage element with LEDs placed in what look like votive candles.  We also use this element as a pixel map.

I thought I would use the ML view more than I do, but the head elec likes having this window open while he runs the show.

in each view there are the orange squares, and thy're in the same spot in all the views. they're used to navigate in between the views

view 1: FOH. the amber rectangles with the magnifying glass are used to zoom into the respective section, e.g. each cove.
the colorpalettes represent the strings of the three available types of scrollers.

Here's a couple from Rachael Ray's daytime show.  I usually keep the magic sheets on an external touchscreen, but not always.

The first two are separate views of the programming MS.  This is the main view, with color for everything, and beam presets for VL1Ks, Vipers, and Auras.

The 700s only get touched occasionally, so their parameters are in a separate view of the same sheet.

This is the "all intel" view.   We can go from almost any cue to any other cue depending on the setup, so this makes finding what's changing much easier.  It also helps when trying to change the color on a single LED brick, or see what an effect is doing.

with 2.1 there is a new Address object. i use it to show if discharge lamps are on, even when they are controlled through LampControl.

How are the beam effects created, is there a function on the fixture to made the beam fade with the intensity of the channel.

If so, how can I add these to my sheets.

It's a separate gradient image set to the same channel as the main fixture and link it to the Channel Intensity.
