I remember at one point if i have a group or fixtures selected, the attribute palletes would become useable based on the fixtures selected (at least i remeber this on the hogII). I may be missing something here, but i don't think im getting that anymore . . .

Yeah, I noticed this too. Didn't 1.3.x continue to do this? 2.x doesn't seem to.
Remember the palette color enhancements you had logged... Perhaps to reenhance this feature, the code could be written where fixture groups can be color code so that when a group is selected, a window on the used palettes indicates perhaps a color outline for each fixture group or type.
Are you guys saying that palette announciation is broken? When you select a fixture or group of fixtures, palettes that don't have data for any fixtures in the current selection will change to dark gray and cannot be applied.
I'm working on a Wholehog 3 console running v2.1 b1618 right now and I'm seeing this work as expected. If you are having problems with this, can you please give me some details that might help me reproduce them?
I'm still just not seeing this fail. I just did a clean install of Hog 3PC v2.1 b1618 on my PC and palette announciation is working just as I'd expect.
I launched a new show. I patched 2 HES x.Spots, 2 Martin MAC 2K Performance, and 2 VL3500 Spot. I generated Auto-Palettes. I opened my Palettes view.
When I select one or two fixture types, some of my beam palettes gray out as unavailable. When I select all fixtures, all palettes are available.
Can you tell me how and where you're seeing this fail?
I went back and played with it a little more. When auto palettes are generated it works just fine. But lets say i've patched in some scroller dimmer along with some studio spots. The SS auto palette just fine, but i have to go and create the colors by hand for my scroller. When i select the scrollers, the palette announce only shows the scroller colors. But if i select the SS, both the color wheel and scroller colors are available. Granted, it doesnt do anything if i have the SS selected and i use one of the scroller colors . . .
maybe i'm doing something wrong here when i set my scroller palette? But i figured if i create a palette that with only a certain fixture selected, it would only apply to that fixture . . .
Never mind . . . completley forgot about the per type thing . . . but that being said, if i have a custom scroll that i like to use, how can i write a fixture to auto palette with those colors and values?
Are you recording your palettes as Global? This would of course cause the annunciation to not be applied.
From p#175 in the v2.1 manual....
By default, the following rules determine how the palette is recorded: 1. Position palettes are always recorded Per Fixture. 2. If all the fixtures to be recorded have exactly the same parameter values, then the palette is recorded as Global. 3. Otherwise the palette is recorded Per Fixture.
You can build a custom fixture with fixture builder or you can edit colour slot values for a slotted fixture in the edit fixtures window. Both of these will affect the palettes that are generated by auto-palettes.
I believe the generic scroller and scroll dim personalities just use 0-100% for control of the scroller, so you would probably need to actually create a fixture in the fixture builder that has slotted colours if you wanted your scrollers to generate auto-palettes.
Unfortunately you can't enter custom names for slots. You have to pick from our pre-defined list. Luckily this is usually more of a problem for custom gobos than it is for colours. There are lots of names on the list and I'd hope that you'd be able to reasonably label your scroll with what's there.
