Hog 3 PC has stopped working. I get an error message 'class fps::runtime error' each time I try to load a show or start a new show. Is there a fix for this other than a re-install of Windows? I have just upgraded to 2.50 but the error persists.
Class FPS, for me at least, has always dealt with a network error. I usually check to make sure that any network devices that are not connected to a network are DISABLED and this usually fixes the problem.
For example...in my laptop I have a WLAN card, a LAN card, and the FPS loopback driver(which is now installed automatically with Hog3PC). When I am in a location where there are no wireless or wired networks avalible, I DISABLE both the WLAN and LAN cards and I am sure that the FPS loopback utility is ENABLED. This fixes the problem for me.
TO Enable/Disable network devices in windows xp...click start, control panel. In coltrol panel, click network connections. In the network connections page, you should be able to right click all of the unused network utilities and disable them.
I always tend to use the Loopback adapter for my shows, unless I am using DP2000s, or are networking to other consoles/computers. The loopback adapter is stabe and I cannot be dropped off its network connection.
Hopefully this helps solve your problem...Let me know if you need any more help.
Our application currently relies heavily on a healthy network adapter to be available and configured and often times these errors are indicative of the things Matt mentions.
Thanks Matt for the possible solution. Unfortunately it still does not work. I have disabled all my network adapters except for the FPS Loopback as suggested. Any other ideas would be welcome.
The splash screen is reporting 192.168.254.354 Subnet 255.255.255.0. These values come from the info page about the FPS Loopback adapter from High End and are set in the TCP/IP Properties of the FPS Adapter under 'Use the following IP address:' This is with all other adapters disabled.
Sounds like a valid loopback IP address. My next troubleshooting step would be to delete or move all of the files currently in the Hog3PC Show folder and then delete the Hog3PC Show folder. Then restart Hog3PC and try loading a new show. This should create a brand new Shows folder in the Hog3PC directory. Having a corrupt or very full show file destination folder might be causing your show launch issues.
I also have gotten many errors just like this.. But I am using a tablet connecting to an iPC via a access point. I am pretty sure though it is due to dropouts and errors in the packets going back and forth.
On a side note, Chris are you the best one to talk to about some questions and recommendations on networking stuff to use with the Hog3 show network using a tablet system? I need to put together a package for using a remote focus unit of sorts using hog 3pc and a tablet. I need to get some information as well on how to minimize networking errors when using it wirelessly. And the required data rates and such.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. This may be something to check out.
You could look at the network settings for the current show and make sure the IPs line up, and that it is configured to use the Loopback adapter. When you load/launch the show there should be a settings button towards the bottom of the window.
I had the same problem. I solved it by uninstalling my mobile internet modem. If you also have a huawei E220 HSDPA USB modem installed on your PC you should uninstal and start hogPC normally.
I tried to uninstall Hog3pc but I get an error. 'There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for the install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor' is the messgae I get.
I do also use a mobile internet modem for the 3 network which is an e220. I would prefer not to unisntall that though as I use it more than hog3pc.
you should just try uninstall the modem and start up Hog3PC. If it won't work just reconnect your mobile internet USB modem and it will reinstall itself.
I think this is the problem for the error you get.
I uninstalled my E220 and now Hog 3pc works as long as I disable all the network adapters except the FPS Loopback adapter. A step in the right direction but there's obviously a conflict here that needs addressing so that I can use my usb modem and hog 3pc on the same machine.
