:):):):)[quote=stephenwyker]I was referring to complete network backup, like on MA, whereas the server process is not ran on a single console; thus if a crash occurs in say programming, everything is saved across the distributed network.
as far as executor buttons go, i bet that could be emplemented into the H3 software. Just have a plug in button wing, or even support for a regular keyboard, you just have to push F12 or scroll lock to go into executor mode. Just an idea.

Now that would be nice
But when the Keyboard does the "executor Buttons" you have no Control which Executors are on (no LED´s on the Buttons!!), like on the good old hog 1000 with the Preset Buttons configured as VM`s.
Maybe when we get keystroke macros, we could have a macro directory, we could utilize this directory for things like executor buttons, firing alot of things from one button.. sort of like comment macros but slightly less limitless..
I feel that the current Wholehog III line is still maturing and that necessary changes can be accomplished through software. Just look at how far it has come already and how many powerful features have been implemented. The hardware is solid, and as such, a "Wholehog 4" isn't necessary at all in my opinion.
A macro directory would be great! It could potentially be accessed by [Open] + [Macro] syntax.
It would be great to be able to label the macros in the directory as well, and perhaps even move your favorite macros to a docking toolbar that you could put anywhere on your screens, much like the "Views" toolbar.
It sounds like a lot of great things are planned for the near future in Wholehog III OS!
I too think Hog III needs to be finished.... All the things that are seen as ideals in the Hog 4 can easily be done with a software update.
I would really like Hog to have a system like on MA where you can not only build fixtures, but build step attributes (ie 21% is Gobo 2 etc). Fixture builder on Hog 3 has got me out of some holes in the past, but its no way near as it could/should be and I am sure its not too hard to do.
I also think more Hog 2 features need to be bought in. Its only in the last 18 months the Mark Cue function has been brought in - which is odd for a desk debuting a lot longer than that.. Theres so many other things in H2 not in H3 yet.
I guess your writing this on the basis that MA2 has come out. MA2 exists because it is ready, and because the MA1 range needed a complete overhaul, or major range re-design. I was one of the people that suggested the Light should have 2 screens.
Aside from that, new desks cost money to launch, and with all due respect, it will take HES/Flying Pig a long time to gain their trust back with LDs for new desk launches.

But look at the price of the new MA series 2.... Its astonomical. The full sizes weighs more than me! Atleast with a Hog 3 or anything below, you can get it out of the flightcase yourself.
I think in the the next 12 months, alot of features will be implemented by HES, before christmas they had v3 and the DP8k on thier hands. Maybe now these are released... there software developers may implement more of the requested. But lets not forget, the DP8K and v3 where great achivements and they must have been hard to make, market etc, so we should give HES a bit of space.

Who cares? Nodody will use an MA 2 full size anyway. It doesn't matter how much it weighs, if your on a gig with an MA2, its going to be of a size that there be more than enough people to assist with lifting. And price, if MA2 does what it says on the tin then thats what people will want. Not a lot of LD's choose desk by their price - they choose it by what they like and what is reliable. That and the weight of a Hog 3 in a case is fairly considerable, if your lifting that on your own it may just be manageable, but its not doing your back any good...
Out of interest Joe, exactly how many shows have you programmed on a Hog3, with real world fixtures? You seem to be remarking on looks, new desks and prices, rather than what any other programmer would go for; which is familarity and reliability.
