ION Bootup issue

That happened to me last week too. Only happened the one time so I dismissed it.

Running 1.4.4

After updating my ION on 1.4.4 for use my RFU with network it also happened 3 times in the beginning.

Now the ION boot without some problems.?!

Anne, this has happened to me quite a lot, on both our Ions. sorry, thought I'd mentioned it before. Hasn't happened for a few weeks, but I have seen it  in 1.4.3, and 1.4.4 I think.

Will do. Also, the fader wing display and LEDs often stay blank on first power up. A reboot fixes it every time. Generally happens after the console has been moved. The wing is bolted on, and seems solidly attached. Again, happens on both Ions. Phoning Luke now...

Was anything ever discovered on this issue? I was using a different ION here in town recently and same issue there.  It wasn't an issue from moving as I have never known that console to be moved.

I had something like this happen to me yesterday.  I shutdown the console so that I could change from one VGA monitor to 2 DVIs, when the console came back on I noticed that Live and Playback status were both in tabs (like the EOS) and on the same screen.  With just the CIA on the second screen.  Also none of the buttons worked and the on-board display just read ION.  When I went to shutdown the CIA displayed Exit EOS instead of Exit ION, and once I exited I had an EOS logo instead of ION.  The board rebooted back to ION fine. (I'm running 1.4.5)

For what it is worth my console did this to me the first two times I tried to boot it. I called tech support since it was brand new at the time and sent them log files. I have not had any trouble until two days ago when the fader wind display went blank. I have control of the brightness from ION still and had to leave to deal with other issues so I am not sure if it will be working when I go back to the theater tomorrow or not.

I'll add my ME TOO to this thread.

Running 1.4.3 on my Ion.  On boot up, the Console LCD screen is frozen.  More SK doesn't change displays.  Typing doesn't show the commands in the LCD screen.  It sometimes happens in conjuction with my RFR Reciever booting up with a Red LED (IE Not working) rather than a Green LED.

(RFR base station is connected direct to the console via USB).  The Base station will sometimes show the Red LED but the LCD screen will work.

I've also noted that it seems to happen (again, not consistently) when the ion takes longer to boot up than normal.  All the LCD screens appear with the correct logos in the usual amount of time, but the big monitors take 30sec longer than normal to start cycling through their Ion / ETC / countdown screens.  The hard disk makes a slightly different sound than normal while it's searching (?) for the  . . . . graphics??

I've got 4 fader wings (3 bolted on, and the 1x20 with the wire connection).  The board doesn't move.

Re-booting solves it.  I've never been able to get a log file.  It doesn't happen that often for me (thank goodness).

eagerly awaiting 1.5, and the manual changes (right??) to go with it.

I also have the softs keys dissapear at times...sometimes even after I have been using them for a while after bootup, but also sometimes they are just arnt there to start up!!!  Running 1.4.5

I had a problem this morning when my Ion booted up and my LCD screen showed only "Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Scroller" and no softkey information.

Changing parameter pages didn't change anything.  However, knowing somewhat where things were, hitting "Focus" I could still do pan/tilt, etc. and

was even able to get to turn on fixtures by knowing what softkey was lamp ctrls.  I exited Ion (is this a reboot, or do I have to actually shutdown the console

and restart to reboot??), and nothing changed.  The console acted normally otherwise, going cue-to-cue, and since I didn't have time to switch back to my

Expression 3, I'm sweating it through 3 services hoping there aren't any surprises.  I'm on 1.4.5 and have my 2x20 fader wing physically connected to the left

side of the Ion.  Is this a software issue?  It hasn't done this since I purchased the console about 6-7 weeks ago.

Another "me too".  Client was experiencing it on 1.4.2. They would lose the encoder labels and softkeys just after startup - fixed with one or several restarts.  Also experienceing issues with 2x10 wing display (attached to desk).

Details have been sent to Phillip Rone with technical services.

I'm also in this boat. I didnt see it happen until I upgraded to 1.7. But it indeed happens now. I thought it was hardware after a move but restart fixed just like everyone else. Any more info on this?

I am just adding my name to the list of those experiencing this issue.  The fader wing issue I have had since first purchase.  At first I had it bolted to the left side of the Ion and it turned out the screws that bolt to two sections together pulled the fader wing out of alignment with the Ion causing my 'random' blank problem.  I then bolted it to the right hand side and the problem seem to lessen.  Then when I upped to 1.7 the problem got worse and the soft key issue also worsened.  Let me know the fix.
